Alumni

The University of Leeds has welcomed talented students from across Southeast Asia for well over half a century. As is evident from these alumni profiles, the knowledge, experience and skills obtained from their time at Leeds has provided them with solid foundations to become leaders in their fields and represent Leeds in a myriad of ways, from Engineering to Finance, to Higher Education and Public Policy. With around 11,500 alumni residing throughout the region, we have developed strong relationships and networks and frequently engage with our diverse and multidisciplinary community.

Malaysia alone is home to 4,578 alumni, representing our 4th largest overseas population after China, the USA, and India. Significant numbers of our Malaysian community graduated in the 1970s and 1980s, with a steady intake of new students arriving every year since. Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand are also home to large and engaged networks of alumni, whilst in Vietnam, the Philippines, Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar we have smaller, but growing, communities.

We believe that you never really leave Leeds, and we are keen to create a sense of belonging and remain by the side of our graduates throughout their careers. A key aspect of our strategy to 2030, Universal Values, Global Change, is ensuring that our alumni are involved in the life of the University, enhancing connections and sharing their professional insights to build a strong lifelong relationship with Leeds that will generate impact for student education, research and our planet.

If you feel that you can offer meaningful opportunities to harness the expertise and networks of our alumni, we would be delighted to make a connection on your behalf. Please contact our Engagement Manager for Global Networks, Sarah Wilson, at S.Wilson4@leeds.ac.uk
