Can you tell us about your research, work and expertise in Southeast Asia?

My research focuses on understanding the long-term behaviour of existing masonry infrastructure and historic structures. My team has a strong translational focus, while my work encompasses both “blue skies” research and “near-to-market” development. I work together with industry and develop state-of-the art technologies and tools to reduce maintenance demands and improve the life-span of old and deteriorated masonry infrastructure and built heritage. More specifically, in my research group, the following areas are investigating:

  • inspection, monitoring and condition appraisal of masonry infrastructure;
  • structural assessment of masonry infrastructure;
  • maintenance, repair and rehabilitation of masonry infrastructure.
