Dr. Madeleine Pownall, an Associate Professor in the School of Psychology at the University of Leeds, actively collaborates with Indonesian institutions to enhance psychological literacy and global citizenship within academic curricula. In September 2023 she co-facilitated an event on the future of psychology education in Indonesia. Further, in June 2024, she co-hosted a stakeholder workshop at Universitas Brawijaya in Indonesia, focusing on Psychological First Aid (PFA) for disaster relief in Malang. This event, organized in collaboration with Dr. Richard Harris from the University of Leeds and Professor Deborah Turnbull from the University of Adelaide, aimed to co-design a PFA programme for undergraduate students.
Additionally, in her work in Indonesia, Dr. Pownall delivers guest lectures and workshops aimed at advancing psychology undergraduate education. She uses culturally relevant examples to teach psychological concepts to undergraduate students. Through these initiatives, Dr. Pownall contributes to the development of psychological education and research in Indonesia, promoting global perspectives and collaborative learning.
