My experience in SE Asia focuses primarily in Malaysia and Indonesia.
While a Lecturer in Sustainability at the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) I collaborated with:

  • the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water (Kementerian Tenaga, Teknologi Hijau dan Air) Malaysia to develop a Food Waste Management Strategy,
  • numerous hospitality and food service sector establishments in Malaysia to develop ways of preventing food waste in the sector,
  • a range of stakeholders across Malaysia and Indonesia in the project 'The Economics of Low Carbon Cities'. The project provided policy relevant evidence on the best way to shift a city to a more energy efficient, low carbon development path, focusing on the Cities of Johor Bahru in Malaysia and Palembang in Indonesia

As an Associate Professor in Sustainable Food Networks at the University of Leeds, I'm part of an interdisciplinary team of UK and Indonesian based researchers and practitioners working to understand the drivers and impacts of peatland fires in Indonesian Borneo, in the 'Kalimantan Lestari' project.
