Since joining the University of Leeds in 2006, I have designed and delivered numerous Thai language modules both on undergraduate and postgraduate level. For me, it has always been important to develop innovative and effective ways of integrating language learning with cultural exploration that allow students to not only enhance their Thai language skills but also gain in-depth understanding of Thai society, traditions, religions, and history. Deeply committed to producing global citizens and being passionate about cross-cultural communication, I have a keen interest in constantly developing new and exciting pedagogical techniques that make learning Thai as a foreign language insightful and enjoyable. In my role as Thailand Year Abroad Tutor, I am to provide our students with plenty of opportunities for transformative and valuable experiences that will allow them to gain profound insights into Thai society whilst learning the language and developing their intercultural skills.
Since 2018, I have also worked as Assessment Specialist for Cambridge International Assessment Education of the University of Cambridge. I very much enjoy this work as it has allowed me to develop new ideas in terms of how to go beyond traditional methods of assessing linguistic and intercultural competence.
Since 2023, I have worked with an international team of researchers on an exciting project in which we explore pilgrimage tourism in modern Thai Buddhism. This interdisciplinary research project brings together expertise in Thai Buddhism, Thai language studies, intercultural studies, tourism studies and governance studies.
